The Orange and Blue played at Colgate on the Cotterell Court in Hamilton, New York on Oct. 16. The Bison and Colgate battled through four sets, with the Raiders able to take the victory 3-1 over the Bison. The Bison put up a strong fight and almost forced a fifth set. At one point in the fourth set, the Bison were up 24-23. Even though the Bison put up a strong fight, Colgate finished out the set with three consecutive points allowing them to win.

Three of the Bison players finished with double-digit kills. They included Catherine Jamison ’24, who finished with 13 kills, Lisa Zoch ’23, who finished with 12 kills, and Libby Nieporte ’24, who finished with 11 kills. The Bison hit .234 for the match while Colgate hit .267. Colgate also held a 16-6 advantage in blocks, and the Bison led 6-5 in service aces. Throughout the match, the Bison took advantage of every opportunity they could to gain a point, but sadly lost to Colgate in the end.

Many Bison players contributed to the board during the Colgate match. Sophomore setter Sarah Ramirez led the Bison with a match-high 38 assists. She also added three block assists and one block solo. Freshman libero, Jordan Hardy posted 13 digs.

“The team showed that when you support one another whether you’re losing or winning, incredible things can happen. We never gave up and made sure everyone felt supported and cheered on through the entire match. Colgate is one of the best teams in the league and we were able to keep up a great fight against them,” Vittoria Sottani ’22 said.

The Bison will host Holy Cross and Army West Point at Davis Gym this upcoming weekend. Holy Cross will be Friday Oct. 22 and Army West Point will play Saturday Oct. 23.
