This Sunday Nov. 9, the men’s water polo team played two games at Kinney Natatorium. The Bison fell to Navy 8-7 in the first match, before coming back and beating John Hopkins 16-8.

The first match originally saw the Bison in the lead, with the men holding a score of 5-1 going into the second half. Navy persisted, scoring four goals within a two and a half minute span to tie the game at 6-6. The Bison managed one more goal, but Navy put in two more to win their second one goal difference game against the Orange and the Blue this season. Andu Vlasceanu ’24 led the game with 3 goals, along with goals from Jack Lewis ’23, Walker Butler ’24, Doruk Ozar ’24 and Josh Yardley ’22.

“We started the weekend string with a good half against navy but we underestimated our lead. We couldn’t hang on to the win but we knew what we had to do for the next game,” goalkeeper Adrien Touzot ’23 said, who posted 10 saves in the match.

The Bison definitely knew what they had to do for the next game. The second match against John Hopkins was a strong win for the Orange and Blue, earning an eight-goal victory over the Blue Jays. The team scored seven straight goals after Hopkins’ game-opening goal in the first quarter, and ended the first half with a lead of 12-1.

Yardley led the match with four goals, while 10 other players on the team managed to score a point for the Bison. The games final score of 16-8 also secured the teams .500 or better record when playing at home, being their 20th season earning this success. Touzot put up four saves, splitting time in net with Jack Otto ’22.

“Our second game against Hopkins was a good example of what we can do in our league after losing a strong lead, and letting the younger guys get in to play.” Touzot said.

The men’s water polo team will play again this Sunday, Nov. 14, on the road at Mount St. Mary’s.
