Recognizing Lewisburg Restaurants!

Bel Carden and Ellie Lowe

Lewisburg offers mountain scenery, a quaint town, a view of the Susquehanna, cute shops and a wide variety of restaurant options. Just off campus, there are endless dining choices to fulfill your latest craving whether that be comfort food, sushi, Chinese food, Italian or much more!

Peking Garden, which is located near Giant, has a vast menu with a variety of different appetizers, entrees, and sides including noodle based dishes, vegetarian options and more. Although they mainly serve food with a Chinese background, there are also menu items that are Japanese. Entrees from Peking Garden range in price from $10-$15. The restaurant also offers take-out and delivery options.  “They have a really good assortment, so I can always find something new to try. The cheese wontons are a personal favorite,” April Hurlock ’23 said.

But Peking Garden isn’t the only restaurant offering unique Asian cuisine in Lewisburg. Located on Market Street, Siam Restaurant & Bar is known for its authentic Thai dishes. Open for both lunch and dinner, Siam has a range of stir fries and curries, as well as some unique salads and desserts. Siam is slightly more expensive than Peking Garden with entrees tending to be closer to $15. Siam does both take out and delivery, as well as sit down dining. Angela Lai ’22 explains why she personally loves eating at Siam; “My favorite aspect of Siam is their healthy, clean and versatile variety of ingredients that fit all sorts of diets that they kindly and thoughtfully offer at their restaurant. Their food is never short of being unbelievably flavorful and tasty; personally, when I get food from their restaurant, I’m comforted deeply by the immediate sense of familiarity for my own home-cooked meals and the love I have for my own culture.”

Continuing down Market Street, observers will meet with the Lebanese cuisine establishment Alee’s Café. Alee serves Mediterranean food with a unique Lebanese twist. Their menu includes authentic Middle Eastern foods like hummus, falafel and shawarma. Unlike the other restaurants, Alee’s Café does not simply serve finished food; alongside the restaurant is a grocery store filled with Mediterranean goods. Alee’s Café provides both take-out and sit-down dining, with entrees ranging in price from $15 – $20.

Grams Eatery is a staple “brunch” location for the Lewisburg community. Grams, which is located off Market Street, has a large menu of American breakfast and lunch dishes. Along with their standard menu, they offer different specials each week so customers always have something new and exciting to try. Grams also does a Taco Tuesday deal for $3 tacos. “I love Grams’s Taco Tuesdays! My friends and I just made it a new tradition this semester,” Haley Scopelliti ’23 said. Their entrees range from $10-15 and they offer the option to do take out or dine in.

Grams also recently opened “Grams Express,” a spinoff of their original storefront serving made to order burritos, bowls, salads, quesadillas and tacos. However, they offer more than just the traditional Mexican style versions of these foods. Grams Express also offers sushi burritos, sushi bowls and a variety of bowls and tacos with unique flavor combinations such as a falafel bowl and a curry bowl. Grams Express is open Wednesday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. They offer the same Taco Tuesday deal as Gram’s Eatery of $3 tacos and their bowls and burritos range in price from $12 to $14. Madison Lance ’22 explains her love of Grams Express. “It’s a great option for when you’re really hungry because the portions are huge and you really get a bang for your buck.”

For a more fine dining experience, Elizabeth’s American Bistro offers fresh and locally sourced meals. Their menu is constantly changing as they focus on creating meals centered around local in season products. Elizabeth’s focuses on providing a “farm-to-table” dining experience. Senior Mikayla Diederich explains hat she enjoys Elizabeth’s “because it’s prepared well and there are a variety of unique options to choose from.” “It’s an added bonus that the ingredients are fresh and change season by season,” she adds. The restaurant is open from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for lunch and reopens for dinner at 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Elizabeth’s also has an online option for takeout orders as well as boxed family dinners, kits and bistro boxes all to go.

Similarly to Elizabeth’s, Brasserie Louis focuses on offering fresh, locally-sourced food as well as a wide variety of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Their menu is organized by appetizers, small plates, entrees, sandwiches as well as an array of cocktails and desserts. Louis has both indoor and outdoor dining options. It is open 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

These are just a few of the many options offered throughout Lewisburg. Make sure to support one of these local businesses next time you’re looking to try and get off campus for a meal!
