As the Men’s Water Polo team looks to head into their postseason, a final regular season win was exactly what the team needed. The Bison traveled to Emmitsburg, Maryland to compete against Mount Saint Mary’s on Sunday, Nov. 14th. They returned home with the win, defeating Mount Saint Mary’s 11 to 5.

Early in the game, Mount Saint Mary’s earned a 1-0 lead. That lead lasted for less than three minutes as Andu Vlasceanu ’23 came back to score a goal which resulted in a 5-0 run by the Bison. Four of the goals were scored by Vlasceanu while the last goal was scored by Walker Butler ’24, a sophomore attacker. Mount Saint Mary’s responded with two goals to put them within two. The Bison struggled for some time to respond with a goal, but Matt Ryckman ’25, a first-year center, came back with a goal to end the first half with a 6-3 lead.

The closest Mount Saint Mary’s came to keeping up with Bucknell was within two goals; the rest of the game was commanded by the Bison who won by a score of 11-5. The last few goals were each scored by a different player, including Doruk Ozar ’24, Jack Lewis ’22, Andu Vlasceanu, and Walker Butler.

The Bison will be traveling to Annapolis, Maryland Friday, November 19th for the first round of the MAWPC Championships. Their first opponent will be Wagner with the match taking place at 4:30pm. The Bison went 1-1 against Wagner in the regular season.
