Men and Women’s Swimming and Diving defeat Mountain Hawks

Lehigh hosted the Bison swimming and diving teams at Jacobs Pool on Saturday, Jan. 22 in the Bison’s last dual meet of the season. The women’s team defeated the Mountain Hawks 199-101, while the men’s team also secured a victory with a score of 193-105.

Orange and Blue seniors Lindsey Bloom, Alexis Faria, Maddie Hartigan, Meagan Hathaway, Caroline Mayk, Isabella Smith and Meghan Taner, put forth a remarkable four-year experience graduating with an impressive overall record of 30-3 (23-3 PL) in dual meets. The class’s only losses came against defending Patriot League champs, the Navy Midshipmen. 

Abby Doss ’24 led the way with three individual victories while Hartigan and Esme Hunter ’24 added two apiece.

“This has been such a great season and I’m so excited to end my swimming career on a high note. The first-years have been a great addition to this team and everyone collectively has contributed such great energy. I’m really looking forward to championships this year!” Mayk said.

John Gehrig ’24 and Chris Kopac ’25 each won two events for the men. Gehrig outraced Lehigh in the 200 butterfly and 200 IM.  Kopac emerged victorious in the freestyle races.

Will Cadwallader ’22 competed in the 3-meter dive, Will Hedges ’25 competed in the 200 breaststroke, Leo Kuyl ’23 competed in the 50 freestyle, Liam Pitt ’22 competed in the 100 butterfly and Christian Stef ’23 competed in the 200 freestyle. Each secured the first-place spot.

“It was really fun to end our season with a winning record and on a victory over Lehigh who is one of our big rivalries. It puts us in a great spot heading into training for championships season, morale on the team is high and we are excited to compete at Patriot League Championships! It will be even more competitive than our regular season as teams will be tapered, rested, and shaved and is generally a meet of personal records for many people,” Cadwallader said.

The Bison will race in the Patriot League Championships at the Navy Invite on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 12 p.m.
