Men’s tennis downed by Drexel

Holly Burns, Sports Co-Editor

The Bison men’s tennis squad traveled to Philadelphia this past weekend to face an unbeaten Drexel team. Unfortunately the Orange and Blue were unable to serve the Dragons their first loss of the season. Despite an 0-5 start, the Bison hope that a tough out-of-conference schedule will help them prepare for upcoming Patriot League play.

The Orange and Blue almost secured a doubles victory with Ink Chen ’24 and Nicolas Grunig ’25, however Drexel won the remainder of the doubles matches before Chen and Grunig were able to finish.

Michael Owen ’23 continued on with his strong performances from last week, defeating the Dragons in his first singles set. Owen kept the sets close and it was back and forth, before Drexel’s player was able to secure the last two and win overall.

Harrison Gold ’24 has been performing well for the Bison, and earned the No. 1 doubles and singles spots in Sunday’s match. The UNC Wilmington transfer should be impactful in the coming matches for the Orange and Blue.

The Bison hope to turn things around next weekend with big N.Y. matches against Siena on Friday, and Marist on Saturday.
