The Bison women’s lacrosse 2022 season has officially begun. Laurel McHale ’22, has personally started off with a bang, earning Patriot League Attacker of the Week after their hard-fought, heartbreaker loss to Canisius College on Saturday. The final score was 12-14, with McHale contributing a career-high four goals and two assists.

“It felt good to finally be able to get back on the field for our spring season!” McHale beamed, explaining that “It was obviously not the result that we had hoped for, but it gave us an opportunity to grow as a team and focus on our weaknesses moving forward.”

The attacker has been a crucial part of the Bison team since her rookie season. Her first year she appeared in 13 games, contributing four points. Her junior year, she made seven starts in nine games and scored a whopping 11 goals and seven assists. In fact, these 18 points were the most scored by any one member of the team in a game during their junior campaign.

McHale’s humility shines through as she praises her team’s efforts. She is hopeful for the rest of the season. “I am lucky to be surrounded by such talented players, and we compliment each other well to highlight our strengths” McHale said.

The goal-scoring senior and her teammates will get an opportunity for their first victory this Saturday in Vestal NY against Binghamton University.
