Bored in Quarantine? Here’s 10 great things you could do while you wait.
February 25, 2022
With many variants of COVID emerging such as the Omicron and Mu variant, many schools have taken different measures to ensure the safety of students. As the University had started the semester in-person unlike many universities which were online the first two weeks, it is plausible that some students have caught COVID. Even now, fellow University students can still catch COVID and would have to quarantine at a hotel for a few days. If you happen to be one of the victims of such a variant, then here are 10 things you can do during your stay at the hotel:
- If you really miss eating at Bostwick, try having dinner over FaceTime with your friends who just happen to be at Bostwick!
- Surprisingly finished with all your work? Email your professors for more work. Although it would not count as extra credit, at least your professor would give you “brownie points!”
- Making your bed? If you’re one of many who never made their bed because they have class five minutes after their fourth alarm, this is the perfect time to do so.
- After making your bed, I bet you’ll be tempted to jump on it and stare off into space. If so, you can count the tiles on the ceiling while you’re in bed. 1, 2, 3 tiles and many more to go!
- If your hotel room has a dictionary in the drawer, you could go through it and find as many five-letter words as you can. You got to prepare for the next Wordle, especially since the New York Times made it nearly impossible for many to get it. Who just casually uses the word “tacit”?
- Watch an artsy, avant-garde film! If you don’t know what it is, just think of a film where a person is rolling around the public bathroom floor, in which the film is a commentary on capitalism!
- Make an avant-garde film! You, too, could roll around your hotel bathroom floor and make it into a commentary on the education system. Maybe you could be the next Stan Brakhage or Maya Deren, who knows?
- Maybe make an avant-garde film on Wordle! Picture this, you could not get the Wordle of the day and roll on the bathroom floor out of frustration. It would then be a commentary on the prison system.
- Ok, enough with avant-garde filmmaking, what about reading? You could finally finish that summer reading!
- Back to avant-garde films, maybe make an avant-garde film in which it is just a regular movie with an actual story, but call it “avant-garde” as it is a commentary on avant-garde films!
Do what you want with this list of 10 things you could do if in quarantine, but just know that you would not be having as much fun unless you make a film of you making your bed (while it would secretly be a commentary on the Russia–Ukraine situation).
