Athlete of the Week: Taylor O’Brien ’22

Clara McCormick, Senior Writer

Senior point guard Taylor O’Brien has made quite an impact on the Bison women’s basketball team during her four-year campaign. As the team reaches their end of the season, O’Brien has made 369 field goals in her career, including 71 three-pointers. She has been awarded Patriot League Player of the Week twice in this 2021-2022 season. The guard is a crucial part of the team, making major contributions to an impressive 19-7 record.

O’Brien has been the glue that holds the team together since her rookie season. She has played in all but six of the team’s 100 games in her career as a Bison, starting 55 of those contests. Last season, which was a shortened 10-game season due to COVID, the senior was ranked first on the team and fourth in the league for points. She was named First Team All-Patriot League and All-Tournament Team. In the preseason polls for this current season, O’Brien was the only member of the team to be named Preseason All-League.

O’Brien and the team only have three more games left until the long-anticipated Patriot League Tournament. During the 2019-2020 campaign, the Bison were regular-season champions, but were unable to compete in the tournament due to the nationwide shutdown that occurred in March of that year.
