The women’s rowing team opened their spring season this past weekend at the Doc Hosea Invitational in Cherry Hill, N.J. All three boats competed in the preliminary rounds, but unfortunately, the finals were canceled due to inclement weather.

The Varsity Eight consisted of the Bucknellian’s very own Juliette Gaggini ’24 and Natalie Kreusch ’22, Erin Sullivan ’22, Maddie Wickers ’23, Hayden Groves ’25, Kona Glenn ’25, Caroline Brandt ’23, Elizabeth Berlinger ’23 and Kate Meerscheidt ’22. The team finished with the 11th best time out of the 18 overall teams competing with a time of 6:47.70.

The Second Varsity Eight finished third in the prelims with a time of 7:01.87. The team was made up of Ollie McDonald ’25, Georgia Lambrakis ’23, Chloe Segal ’23, Amanda Pennett ’24, Alina Kelly ’25, Christina DeMola ’23, Caroline Keating ’22, Jess Volcheck ’22 and Annabelle Kaeli ’24.

The Bison’s third and final boat, the Third Varsity Eight finished second in its heat and posted a time of 7:11.70 which would’ve been good enough to make the Grand Finals. The boat was staffed by Ava Rysman ’23, Abby Gerst ’24, Millie Malloy ’23, Abby Malek ’24, Maddy Davis ’25, Haley Beardsley ’24, Isa Fassio-Bazzi ’25, Dehlia Rotchford ’24 and Elliana Steely ’25.

The Bison will be back on the Susquehanna River next Saturday, April 2. They will be competing against Boston College, North Carolina and George Washington.
