Men’s Tennis

Looking to rebound from last week’s loss to Chestnut Hill, the men’s team opened the weekend against Colgate on Friday afternoon. After dropping the doubles point, the Bison ran away in singles en route to a 5-2 victory. The performance included individual wins from Harrison Gold ’24 (1), Michael Owen ’23 (3), Tim Zelikovsky ’24 (4), Ink Chen ’24 (5) and Nicolas Grunig ’25 (6).

On Sunday, the Bison had little trouble dispatching the Terriers of Boston University, sweeping 1-4 singles and all doubles matches. Following the impressive wins, Gold was named Patriot League Player of the Week for his efforts.

The Bison moved to 2-1 in Patriot League play and will put their improved record to the test next weekend as they travel to Navy and Loyola.

Women’s Tennis

The women’s team returned to action on the outdoor courts Saturday, as they faced off against rival Lehigh University. The Bison began the day by earning the doubles point, combining a win from Senior Captain Daniela Bellini and Whitney King ’25 at first doubles and a Lehigh forfeit at third doubles.

Bellini continued to lead the way for the Bison, posting a decisive 6-1, 6-3 victory on court number one. Anna Lajos ’25, Laurel Utterback ’24 and Kate Novak ’24 all won their singles matches, rounding out the 6-1 decision.

The Bison went right back to work on Sunday morning, earning their fourth shutout of the season over Colgate. Tyne Miller ’24 rebounded from a grueling tiebreaker loss on Saturday, posting a dramatic 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 victory of her own to clinch the win for the Bison. Bellini was named Patriot League Player of the Week on Monday.

The Bison now sit at 11-6 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. Another Patriot League double slate awaits, with the Bison traveling to Lafayette and Loyola this coming weekend.
