The Bison men’s golf team narrowly missed out on first place in Lafayette’s ABARTA Coca-Cola Collegiate Challenge. The Orange and Blue finished the 36-hole tournament at 581 which was one shot behind Iona and Lafayette who finished at 580. This was a great performance for the Bison as there were 16 total teams including six Patriot League teams.

The team started off the competition strong with a 296 team score on the first day which was good enough for third. Jackson Bussell ’23 played especially well shooting 3-under-par 69. Bussell finished the day tied for first overall as he was one of only six players to shoot under par on the day. In addition to Bussell, the other Bison also shot well. Blake Wisdom ’23 shot a 73, Jason Lohwater ’22 shot a 75 and Jack Gardner ’23 shot a 79.

On the second day of the competition, the Bison continued their stellar play. Wisdom finished with a 67, courtesy of six birdies, which was the second-best score of the entire weekend. Lohwater also shot under par overall finishing with a 71. Michael Rudnick ’25 kept improving as the weekend progressed and finished with a 73. Bussell also continued his stellar weekend finishing with a 74.

The Bison are back in action on April 18 and 19 at the Wildcat Invitational, hosted by Villanova at Radnor Valley Country Club. This will be the team’s final tune-up before the Patriot League Championship.
