Women’s Rowing makes a splash at Lake Wheeler Invitational

This past weekend the Bison women’s rowing team headed to Raleigh, N.C. to compete at the Lake Wheeler Invitational. The Bison had some great numbers and secured three wins over Patriot League Rivals.

The Bison raced three times in a 24-hour period, facing competitive ranked squads such as No. 9 Penn, No. 11 Duke, and No. 15 Syracuse. 

In the first race, the Orange and Blue Varsity Four placed in front of Miami by two seconds. In the second, the Bison finished ahead of Patriot League rival Georgetown and Miami, falling behind Clemson and Oklahoma. Their third race granted them their best time of the weekend at 7.51.97.

The Varsity Eight took Boston College while falling behind Penn, Miami, Central Florida and North Carolina in the first race. Later that day, they beat Patriot League Rival Navy by just over a second. They finished the weekend with their fastest time of 6:48.822 trailing behind Clemson, Oklahoma, Miami and Georgetown.

The second Varsity Eight beat Oklahoma and Georgetown with a weekend best time of 7:06.261, falling just short of beating Clemson and Miami.

The Orange and Blue have their last home event next Saturday against Lehigh, Delaware and Duquesne before they head to Patriot League Championships on May 12 on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
