The Bison men’s golf team traveled to Hamilton, N.Y. last weekend to compete in the Alex Lagowitz Invitational at Seven Oaks Golf Club hosted by Colgate University.

Finishing with a team score of 2-over 290 on Sunday, the men took ninth place in an extremely competitive field. The Bison were competing against 13 other teams. Jackson Bussell ’23 led the team to a 16-over weekend finish after Bussell finished with a subpar total of 2-under 214 placing him in sixth. Also heavily contributing to the team’s success was Blake Wisdom ’23 with a weekend total of 3-over 219 along with James Key ’26 scoring 4-over 220.

Leading the Bison was senior Bussell who finished in a tie for sixth overall out of the 91 players in the field. Bussell had 15 birdies in 54 holes with a 6-hole, 5-under stretch on the second day of the tournament. Alongside him was Wisdom with a 3-over finish on the weekend for 24 place. Key had a steady last round of even-par 72 with two birdies and two bogeys to balance each other out. Josh Holtschlag ’23 shot a 4-over 76 on the last day of the invitational. Jack Gardner, one of the four seniors on the team, had a solid last round as Key did, shooting a 2-over 74. James Robbins ’26, one of the two traveling first-years, finished at plus 22. This was both Key and Robbins’ first time traveling for the University.

The Bison have until Sept. 17 to prepare for their next tournament in Plymouth Meeting, Pa. at 1912 Club hosted jointly by Cornell University and Temple University.
