The Bison women’s golf team attended the Nittany Lion Invitational this past weekend in Happy Valley, PA.

On the first day of play, the Orange and Blue posted team scores of 307 and 311, with four scores in the 70s both rounds.

Kayla Yi ’24 tied her career low with a 75. The junior (75-79) joined her twin sister, Kelsey Yi ’24 (77-77) and Tara Thomas ’25 (78-76) at 154. This score resulted in a tie for fifty-third place, which is a success at such a competitive invitational.

Paige Richter ’26 shot a 77-79, and sophomore Viveka Kurup ’25 shot 82-81.

On day two, the Bison found further success. Richter contributed a 3-over-par 75, Kelsey Yi a 76, and Kayla Yi and Thomas both contributed 77s.

Kelsey Yi was the low for the entire weekend, with a 230 total. Her twin, Richter and Thomas all finished at 231.

Bucknell achieved sixteenth place, with Penn State taking first, as they had home advantage. The 923 team total over 54 holes was quite an accomplishment for the Bison, as it was the fourth-best in team history, and second-best as a visiting team.

“It was a great weekend overall,” Morgan Sohosky ’23 said “Although we didn’t place where we had hoped, our team had strong scores. We’re looking forward to the next few tournaments.”

Women’s golf will compete at home this weekend, hosting the Bucknell Invitational at the Bucknell Golf Club.
