The Bucknell men’s soccer team began last week with an exciting league win against Lehigh on Sept. 28. Mo Tall ’23 earned the first goal of the game off of a 20 yard free kick at about the twenty-second minute.

The game was tied at the fifty-first minute, but the Bison responded just before the final buzzer. Sebastian Paz ’24 secured the win with the help of teammates Cade McGrath ’26 and MJ Kuczura ’24. The team remained composed for the remainder of the game and came out on top.

“The team is really coming together,” goal scorer Tall said. “We’ve been playing well, but now we’re finishing games out and getting the results we need.”

Bison goalkeeper Freddie Lapworth ’26 banke  four saves in his career debut. Overall, the Bison dominated, earning 22 shots to Lehigh’s nine.

In their second league game of the week on Oct. 1, Bucknell remained dominant and outshot Lafyette 18 shots to nine. Lafayette scored off of a penalty at the 33rd minute, but the Bison contended hard throughout.

Jameson Railey ’23 and Paz each took a hard shot, just saved by the opposing keeper. Charlie Holmes ’26 and Waldemar Kattrup ’25 each earned a free kick as well and Marco Valentic ’26 led the team with five shots on goal. Lapworth ended with three saves.

In another mid-week game, the Bison competed against Binghamton under the rain. Just fifty short seconds into the game, McGrath scored his second goal this season, with an assist from fellow first-year Holmes. The Bison ended up narrowly falling to Binghamton’s two goals. Even with this result, the Bison still outshot Binghamton 15-13, and Lapworth finished with four saves.

The Bison will face league-opponent Boston University in Boston, Mass. this Saturday.
