The Bison women’s soccer faced two very tough teams this weekend.

The Bison opened the week with a game at Emmitt Field against Loyola University on Wednesday. The final score of this match was 0-0, however there was much action to this game. Throughout the game, both goalkeepers fought hard to defend both team’s shot attempts.

Bucknell tried several times to score in the match and outshot the Greyhounds 16-11. Shots came from many different Bison to try to get on the board including Teresa Deda ’25, Petie Nassetta ’23, Abby Gearheart ’23 and Hannah Stuck ’24.

Through this battle goalie Jenna Hall ’24 performed, earning her Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week. Hall totaled a season-high eight saves this game. Seven of the total 11 shot attempts from Loyola came from their high scoring freshman and were all put away by Hall. Hall’s tenacity in net granted her a league-winning eighth shutout of the season.

The Bison went on to compete with Boston University this Saturday. With the Bison facing Boston again for the first time since the Patriot League Championship last season, both teams were showing up to compete. Deda capitalized with a goal just four minutes and 22 seconds into the game with an assist from Katie Schiano ’25, giving them a 1-0 lead that they would hold for the rest of the game.

Boston did not have nearly as many shot attempts or attacking opportunities as the Bison held them off. Hall totaled three saves for the game. This win gave Hall her third consecutive shutout and fourteenth shutout of her career, placing her third in Bucknell’s all-time list for career shutouts.

“Those were two very tough games for us, and I think we really stepped up as a group and went in with a lot of energy,” Rylee Donaldson ’23 said. “Wednesday was a hard fought tie and Saturday we all showed up and grabbed a big three points on the road.”

The Bison women’s soccer team will face Army this Saturday at 2 p.m. at home for senior night. You can find the game stats on the Bison Athletics webpage or Watch live on ESPN+.
