Bucknell football was riding high after their thrilling 19-17 victory at arch rival Lehigh to improve to 1-6. This week, they hosted the Raiders of Colgate at Christy Mathewson Stadium.

The contest was off to a slow start, with the score tied at 0-0 after the first quarter and 6-0 at half in favor of Colgate. The scoring picked up in the second half with both teams getting on the board. Ultimately, Colgate inched out a victory 13-7.

Ethan Grady ’25 was the starter at quarterback for the Bison, completing 10 of his 29 passing attempts for 85 yards. Alex Brown ’26 also saw a few snaps, as the first-year quarterback completed two of his five passing attempts for 62 yards and rushed 11 times for 39 yards.

The Bison had two running backs get double digit carries this weekend, highlighted by Coleman Bennett ’24 who rushed twelve times for a season-high 71 yards. Rushawn Baker ’25 ran 13 times for 35 yards.

“I think the offensive line was clicking for me to be able to rush for a season high of 70 yards,” Bennett said. “They were opening up plenty of holes for me to run through and I can’t thank them enough for that.”

The Bison drop to 1-7 on the season as they prepare to take on FCS powerhouse Fordham (6-2) this Saturday at home.

“I think we are playing as a team more rather than playing as a bunch of individuals,” Bennett said. “That’s something I like to harp on because we need to be all in for each other.”
