Bison Men’s Swimming and Diving hosts the Bucknell Invite

The Bucknell Men’s Swimming and Diving team made impressive strides with eight first place winners at the Bison Invitational in Kinney Natatorium this past weekend. 

The teams competing on campus included UMBC (partial squad), American, Navy (men’s team), Shippensburg, Lafayette and Lehigh. 

John Gehrig ’24 made his mark in the record book in the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.88,  placing him at eighth-best of all time for the event in Bucknell history. 

Gehrig also earned the tenth-best time in school history for the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:01.94. 

The Bison took the top three spots in the 400 IM, as Chris Kopac ’25 (first, 3:58.06), Braden Beagle ’26 (second, 4:03.06) and Shane Wynne ’26 (third, 4:03.16) finished in order ahead of three Navy swimmers. 

Chris Fabian ’24 (200 IM), Christian Stef ’23 (100 freestyle), Kopac (400 IM) and Andy Dorsel ’25 (200 freestyle) added to the crowd of first-place finishers for the Bison. 

The next two weeks for the men will be filled with preparation for the Patriot League Championships, which will take place in Kinney Natatorium from Feb. 15 to 18.
