The Bucknell wrestling team won two of three matches they competed in this past weekend, Jan. 28 and 29.

Their match at home against LIU early on Saturday resulted in a 38-4 win for the Bison.

Darren Miller ’23 (141) and Dorian Crosby ’24 (285) each landed pins to earn the team 12 total points. Mikey Bartush ’26 (184) added five more points after winning with a tech fall, the first of his career. Kolby DePron 25 (149) won 8-6 in an overtime sudden victory and Riley Bower 26 (157) also clinched a win.

Later that same day, the Bison traveled to Lawrenceville, N.J. to compete at Rider University where Kurt Phipps ’24 (133), Braden Bower ’26 (141), Chase Barlow ’26 (165) and Crosby all posted wins for Bucknell.

Along with Bower and Barlow, Sam Barnes ’23 (174) and Mason McCready ’23 (184) all picked up back to back decisions. The team left Lawrenceville with a 19-15 win.

The next day, the Bison traveled to West Point, N.Y. to wrestle Army and were narrowly beaten after holding a 17-15 lead before falling 19-17.

McCready won with a 4-2 decision, followed by Nolan Springer’s ’25 (197) win and Crosby’s 12-2 major decision. Kurt Phipps won his bout 3-0 and Darren Miller posted a win with a 9-1 major decision.

“The weekend was successful,” Crosby said. “I wrestled hard and tried to give my all for the team throughout the match and get bonus points as much as I could. Overall as a team I think we fought really hard in all three duals. There are some weights and some little things we need to work on, but I think we are going to get back in the wrestling room and work out those kinks. It’s only up from here.”

Bucknell looks to host Columbia and Navy at Davis gym next weekend, Feb. 3 and 4.
