Men’s Basketball travels south to Navy and Loyola

Bison men’s basketball fell short of two wins this past week with a 63-46 loss at home against Navy on Wednesday Jan. 25 and a road loss to Loyola on Saturday.

The defensive showing from the Bison was strong to start the week, holding Navy to 63 points and 29 percent shooting from outside the arc to go along with 14 turnovers.

“Defensively we’ve just been focused on being connected as a unit and trusting that if we go to help someone else, someone is going to have our back and help us,” Xander Rice ’23 said. “So [we’re] definitely just trying to trust each other.”

Saturday offered a more up-tempo matchup between the Greyhounds and Bison, but Bucknell still fell 80-66, bringing their record to 8-15 for the season and 1-9 in Patriot League play. Rice gave the Bison 21 points on seven of 20 shooting while knocking down four three-pointers.

“Offensively we just have to continue to be confident and share the ball and know that the shots will eventually fall,” Rice said.

Men’s basketball is back in action on Feb. 8 to face Navy in Annapolis, Md.
