Bucknell Men’s Tennis faced a fellow Pennsylvania University, Saint Francis (Pa.) and defeated the team easily 6-1.

In the singles matches, the Bison were rather impressive, winning five out of six. These winners consisted of Harrison Gold ’24 at No. 1, Amar Tahirovic ’26 at No. 2, Michael Owen ’23 at No.3, Nick Mueller ’23 at No.4 and Tim Zelikovsky ’24 at No. 5.

While his teammates defeated their opponents in two sets, Tahirovic had a comeback match after falling in the first set 6-2.

“In the beginning of the match, I wasn’t really on the ball and making much in the first set,” Tahirovic said. “I tried to keep resilient and it worked. After losing the set 6-2, coach said a few words about what I could change. I stuck with that and ended up turning the match around. Personally it was a good win for me because I had played him back in the fall and it was a tight match then as well.”

On the doubles end, Gold paired up with teammate Brendan McDonald ’26 at No. 1 to defeat their Red Flash competitors 6-3, and seniors Mueller and Owen teamed-up at No. 3 to win 6-1. These wins secured the doubles point for the Orange and Blue.

“The team definitely stayed disciplined throughout the entire match, which was good for us after what had happened versus Villanova,” Tahirovic said. “After securing the doubles point, we stayed focused to end up winning the match as a whole just after the first round of singles. There was great energy all around, and I look forward to keeping up that same energy throughout the two upcoming matches this weekend.”

Men’s Tennis continues their search for wins as they face Howard University and Coppin State this weekend.
