This past weekend, Women’s Water Polo competed against some very tough teams in the Princeton Invitational. Coming from their current record of 5-13, the Bison first matched up to play against Iona.

This was a very close game for the Bison until the end. They were neck and neck with Iona the entire first half with goals from Boati Motau ’25, Isabelle Monaghan ’24 and Chloe Smith ’23. The halftime score stood at 4-3 in favor of Iona.

The Orange and Blue did not let up and fought to win throughout the second half. Following a three goal run by the Gaels, the Bison attempted to come back, scoring five more goals in the second half. Bella Schraa ’26 scored one, two goals were contributed by Gwen Kallmeyer ’26 and Smith put up a hattrick.

The Bison came back strong but did not have enough time. The final score was left at 8-9.

The Orange and Blue then went on to compete against Siena.

Neither team could score more than one goal in the first quarter, but goals came filing in during the second by Motau and Bella Moynihan ’23. The Bison continued their scoring streak and had impeccable defense, toppling Siena 7-3.

Afterwards, they went on to play the previously ranked LIU. The Sharks have stood in the top 25 for most of the season, and Bucknell struggled against this high-ranked competitor. The final score was 5-18.

The Bison concluded the weekend with a game against Villanova. Bucknell and Villanova had a battle in the first quarter with both teams scoring two goals. Villanova was able to take the lead by halftime.

Both teams rallied offensively, but the Bison were not able to put up as many goals in the second half as their opponent. The final score for this game was 7-13.

The Bison will face Saint Francis University (Pa.), University of Michigan, Marist and San Jose State in the Wolverine Invitational this upcoming weekend.
