Bison men’s golf traveled to Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. over the weekend to compete in the Loyola Intercollegiate. The event featured 19 teams including the Bison.

Bucknell finished T6 as a team, tallying a -2 card for the three round event. The Bison struggled on day one, totaling a 293 as a team, good for +5, leaving them in a mix towards the middle of the pack.

The Orange and Blue improved by 11 shots on day two, closing the day out with a -6 282. This shot them up the leaderboard and brought them back into contention. This performance was tied for the 12th-best team total in Bucknell history. The Bison followed that up with a -1 287 on day three as a team.

Jackson Bussell ’23 was the low Bison for the event, finishing -3 for the tournament and earning a T17 finish on the individual leaderboard.

Two more Bison finished inside the top 40, as Blake Wisdom ’23 finished at even par for the event which was good for an individual T30 finish, and Andres Barraza ’26 ended up with a share of 36th place after a +1 tournament.

Bussell carded five birdies and an eagle en route to a round two 68, tying his best score ever.

“I hit it great off the tee all week and what changed from round one to round two was my putting,” Bussell said. “I found that I was reading greens a lot more accurately the second day which led to me making a lot more putts.”

Bucknell has finished inside the top nine in all of their events so far. They next head to Myrtle Beach, S.C. for the Bash at the Beach.
