Bucknell Baseball came into the weekend ready for a win and they did just that and more, going 2-1 against Boston College, Ball State and Merrimack College, while competing in the Swig and Swine College Classic at Shipyard Park.

For their first game, the Bison faced Boston College on their opponents home ground. The Eagles hit three home runs and scored on six other occasions to earn a 9-1 win against the Orange and Blue.

Shortly after, the Bison brought on the heat during their second outing of the weekend, resulting in a 7-2 Bison win over Ball State. Chris DiFiore ’23 pitched strong over six innings, Theo Farynick ’23 and Ryan Osinski ’26 were dominant in relief, and Jacob Terwilliger ’23 and Grant Voytovich ’24 hit opposite-field home runs to power the win.

The Cardinals, who stood as a preseason favorite in the Mid-America conference, having beaten Rutgers and Merrimack, now sit at 3-4 on the season.

Bucknell also posted a commanding 12-3 win over Merrimack college. Tyler Dunn ’25 belted a tie-breaking three-home run in the fifth inning, and the bottom third combined for seven of Bucknell’s 12 hits.

Hitters Mason Kelly ’23, Jake Wortman ’23 and Terwilliger combined to go 7-for-13 with six runs scored.

The Bison also took on the University of Pittsburgh on Tuesday Feb. 28, but fell to them 8-11.

Despite their losses, the weekend was a success for the Bison. Their next game is away against Western Michigan on Saturday March 4.
