Softball travels to North Carolina

Bison softball traveled to Greenville, N.C. this past weekend to compete against East Carolina University, Radford University and Saint Francis University.

Their first day was spent competing in a doubleheader against the ECU Pirates where they took a loss of 1-3 in the first game but had a strong comeback win in their second game with a 2-0 finish. ECU was on a seven-game winning streak until game two versus Bucknell on Thursday.

Bucknell started strong in the first inning of the second game when Zoie Smith ’24 hit a two-run double. Although the Bison were unable to score any more runs, it didn’t matter as Madison Roukey ’25 pitched a shutout and held the Pirates to four hits. Head Coach Sarah Caffrey said she was “thrilled with our fight against a great team.”

The second day of the Pirate Clash wasn’t as strong for the Bison, as they fell to both Radford and Saint Francis University. Although they lost, they put up a close fight with both teams, losing 2-3, 2-5, respectively.

The final day of the Pirate Clash was canceled due to inclement weather. They were scheduled to play Friday, Saturday and Sunday versus all the teams mentioned previously.

The Bison will next travel to Towson, Md. to compete against Coppin State University on March 4 and 5.
