The Bison wrestling team traveled to Philadelphia, Pa. last weekend to compete in the EIWA Championships at The Palestra.

Dylan Chappell ’25 made it to the semifinals where he finished as runner-up at 149 pounds and qualified for the NCAA Championships, while five of his teammates also finished as place winners at the conclusion of the event.

Nick Delp ’24 (157) placed fifth, Darren Miller ’23 (141) placed sixth, Dorian Crosby ’24 (285) placed sixth and Kurt Phipps ’24 (133) placed seventh.

Crosby joined Chappell as an NCAA qualifier after beating Army’s Austin Kohlhofer 3-1 in a victory in the consolation quarterfinals. Bucknell finished in ninth place with 54 points.

Chappell has had a long journey to qualify for the NCAA Championships. In the middle of the season, he went up a weight class making him the first wrestler to reach 149-pound finals in over 10 years. He was able to upset Penn Saturday morning in the semifinals with an 8-4 decision. From here, he was the first Bison to punch his ticket to the NCAA Championships.

Bucknell’s qualifiers will next compete at the NCAA Championships scheduled for March 16-18 at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla.

The NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee will announce the at-large qualifiers on March 7. The NCAA brackets and seeding will be unveiled the following day.
