Bucknell men’s golf traveled to California to take part in the UC San Diego Invitational on March 27-28. The tournament was held at Torrey Pines Golf Course, the same course which held the 2021 US Open.

The Bison competed against fourteen other schools, including UC Irvine and Lehigh.

Each team played 36 holes on the first day, followed by 18 on the second. Through 36, Bucknell made 42 birdies to go along with an eagle, earning an under-par score in each of the first two rounds.

The Bison stayed red hot during round three, posting a -1 team tally of 287. The 54-hole score for Bucknell totaled 860, the fifth-best 54-hole team score in program history.

After a stellar three rounds, Bucknell finished the event alongside Hawaii at T-11 on the team leaderboard, in front of Lehigh, Florida A&M and Southern Utah.

Blake Wisdom ’23 finished the event -4, including a -3 final round score of 69 in which he added three birdies. He would end up T-19 on the individual leaderboard. Andres Barraza 26 and Jackson Bussell 23 each ended the invitational at even par, earning them a T-37 finish.

The Bison take the next week off before they head cross-state to Villanova to take part in the Wildcat Invitational at Radnor Valley Country Club.
