Bucknell men’s lacrosse faced Colgate University for their first Patriot League game of the season this last weekend.

Bucknell was down 1-3 to the Raiders at the start of the match, but it was not long until they had a very impressive comeback.

During the second quarter, Bucknell was able to fire off seven goals out of 16 shot attempts that remained unanswered from Colgate. The Bison prevented the Raiders from scoring for an entire 24 minutes of play, as the team was relentless in the defensive end.

Colgate responded to this run and was able to retaliate in the second half. In the third quarter, Colgate was able to outscore the Bison in shot attempts 7-5, however, this was not nearly enough to comeback from the Bison’s incredible scoring streak in the first half.

The Raiders attempted to even out the score again in the fourth quarter and had a five goal run, interrupted by a goal from Connor Davis ’25.

Though the Raiders fought hard to overcome the Bison, the final score at the end of the game was 14-10 for the Bison, giving them their first Patriot League win of the season.

Davis had an incredible game with five goals for the Orange and Blue, matching his career high in goals per game. Cam Doolan ’25 also had a hat trick for the Bison.

Dutch Furlong ’24, Tanner Germain ’23 and Michael Meyer ’26 each put up goals and assists as well. Hank Bethel ’23 caused two turnovers in the game, and Tommy Armstrong ’25 posted a team-high of five ground balls in the game.

First-year goalkeeper Jaz Zanelli made 11 crucial saves during the game and completed 26 of the 30 clears with the assistance of the defensive unit.

Next weekend, the Bison will travel to West Point, N.Y., to face Army for another Patriot League game on April 1.
