This past weekend, on April 8, Bucknell Men’s Lacrosse faced a tough Patriot League opponent, Lehigh University.

The Bison trailed Lehigh in most of the first half of the game, never being able to put more points up than the Mountain Hawks. Though the teams were tied 3-3 at the end of the first quarter, Lehigh was able to go on a four goal run shortly into the second quarter, leaving the halftime score at 7-4.

Around 10 minutes into the third quarter, Ritchie Striano ’24 led a comeback effort for the Orange and Blue with help from Connor Davis ’25 and Jack Feda ’23.

Bucknell outshot Lehigh 15-5 in this quarter, racing to contend for a win. The Bison were able to hold off the Mountain Hawks for about 15 minutes of play but eventually, they regained momentum. Soon after, Lehigh put up three more goals to secure the win of the game.

Davis recorded his fifth hat trick of the season. Dutch Furlong ’24 also was able to secure a hat trick along with two assists for the Bison.

Overall, the Bison had very good statistics for the game. They had 37 shots on goal in comparison to Lehigh’s 39. Bucknell bested Lehigh in turnovers 20-13 as well.

Unfortunately, Lehigh was able to capitalize on 21 out of 22 faceoffs in the game.

First-year goalkeeper Jaz Zanelli made 13 saves.

“It was our last Saturday game at home against a very good opponent,” Joe Scattareggia ’23 said. “We played hard but fell short in the end. The Herd is fired up to play Holy Cross this weekend and get back on track and make a push for the Patty League tourney.”

Bucknell Men’s Lacrosse will next face another Patriot league team, Holy Cross, next weekend on April 15.
