This past weekend, Bison Women’s Golf traveled to Hastings-on-Hudson, NY to compete in the St. John’s Invitational.

The women fought hard, placing seventh out of 11 teams. These teams included Bucknell, host team St. John’s, Fairfield, Holy Cross, Wagner, Indiana, Columbia, UAlbany, Seton Hall, Quinnipiac and Hartford. The first round of the invitational proved to be successful for Tatum McKelvey ’23 who led the team to a 317 score and carded her season-best 77. She made two birdies on the day. This score put the senior in 77th place out of all the golfers that competed that day.

Cristina Canales ’24 also had a notable performance, scoring a 79, as did Morgan Sohosky ’23 with the same score. Viveka Kurup ’25 also had an impressive first round with a score of 82.

Round two was a success for Sohosky, who shot her season best of 75.

Sohosky, alongside Canales who earned a 78, secured the Orange in Blue in their seventh place position.

McKelvey scored an 83, Kurup got an 81 and Tara Thomas ’25 earned an 84.

“I think the team was really strong this weekend given the course we competed on,” McKelvey said. “We had the opportunity to play on the oldest golf course in the United States. This course posed challenges, but everyone on the team overcame them throughout the rounds. I was super happy with my first round and am so proud of Morgan [Sohosky] for posting a season low of 75 on day two of the tournament. I can’t wait to see what this team achieves in the Patriot Leagues!”

Prior to competing in the Patriot League Championships in Midlothian, Va. two weeks from now, the Bison have one more weekend of competition to prepare. This upcoming weekend, the women will travel to the historic Annapolis, MD to compete at the Navy Spring Invitational.
