Women’s Tennis goes 1-1 in New York

The Bucknell Women’s Tennis team traveled to West Point, N.Y. and Hamilton, N.Y. over the weekend to play against Army and Colgate.

In their first match, the Bison fell to Army 4-0.

Army ended up clinching the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 2 and a 6-2 victory at No. 3. Although the Bison lost the overall doubles point, the duo of Whitney King ’25 and Abby Platt ’26 secured a 6-4 win at the No. 1 spot. 

After the doubles matches, Army picked up three consecutive victories at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 singles. These games ensured the win for Army. In the three unfinished singles matches, Bucknell had taken the first set in each game. 

Bucknell then went on to defeat Colgate 5-2 in their final road match of the regular season. 

The Bison came out firing and swept the doubles point for the match. At No. 1, King and Platt won 6-3, at No. 2, Tyne Miller ’24 and Anna Lajos ’25 were victorious 6-1 and the No. 3 duo of Caroline Marcus ’25 and Madi Sebulsky ’24 also defeated their opponents 6-1. 

King and Platt are now 13-4 in doubles play together and 5-0 within Patriot League opponents.

Additionally, the Bison took in four singles victories. 

King and Lajos both pulled out three-set victories, and Marcus secured a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles. 

Platt’s win of 6-2, 4-6 and 6-1 at No. 4 singles sealed the match for the Bison. 

Bucknell has won two out of their last three Patriot League matches. On Sunday, April 23, the Bison will host their last regular season match against Lafayette.
