Athlete of the Week: Allie Boyce ‘25

Allie Boyce ’25 put on a historic performance for the Bison in a 20-11 Senior Day Women’s Lacrosse victory against American, scoring 10 goals in 10 tries. Boyce’s 10 goals tied the school record for goals in a game, previously set by Hall-of-Famer Sue Gray against Northeastern in 1984. This was the second-most goals scored by any Division I player this season, and her total was also one shy of the Patriot League record and just two away from the NCAA mark.

Although her individual performance excited her, Boyce was even more excited to get a victory on senior day.

“This was a must win for us to have a chance to make the Patriot League playoffs, so I was extremely excited we got the victory,” Boyce said. “We were very determined and focused going into this game, and I think that really helped us win. We all just wanted to go out there, have a good game and leave everything out there for our seniors.”

Boyce’s record-tying performance got her not only school-wide and conference-wide recognition, but also national recognition. On top of being named Patriot League Attacker of the Week and Bison of the Week, Boyce was named the Division I Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association, as well as the Division I Player of the Week by USA Lacrosse Magazine on Tuesday, April 18.

To say that Boyce had a good game would be a drastic understatement, and her recent success is just a continuation of her historic season. Boyce entered the game ranked No. 2 nationally in shot percentage, and she is now No. 1 in all of Division I lacrosse with an impressive .729 accuracy. Boyce also ranks second in the nation in free-position goals per game (1.46) and 17 in overall goals per game (3.31).

Everything seems to be clicking for Boyce, and she credits her success to the selflessness of her teammates.

“I think it speaks volumes that almost every single goal I had was assisted by a teammate,” Boyce said. “My teammates did a great job of finding me when I was open and creating looks for me, so I’m just really lucky to have them. They definitely trust me a lot with the ball, which is something I’m really grateful for. I think our teamwork on offense really showed during this game, and I’m just really happy it resulted in a win… It’s definitely crazy to see that I tied the record, and I never expected doing anything like this coming into Bucknell. It’s just really exciting, and hopefully we can carry this into our games this weekend.”

Boyce and the Bison look to keep the momentum going in a pivotal Patriot League matchup at Boston University on Saturday.
