The Bison Football team fell 37-21 at home this weekend to the University of Pennsylvania Quakers.
The Orange and Blue finally got some points on the board in the second half, scoring all 21 of their points and running 228 of their 239 yards in the last 30 minutes.
The Bison got some of their first points on the board thanks to three touchdown passes by Ralph Ruckers ’25; however, this was only after the Quakers had already scored 17 points in the first half. Heading into the fourth quarter, the Bison trailed 30 -7.
Ruckers said that the Bison knew something had to change going into the second half.
“The talk at halftime was making adjustments to our game plan based on the certain looks we as an offense were getting throughout the first half,” said Ruckers. “As well as keeping our composure mentally after an unproductive first half. Also, we needed to compliment our defense as they were keeping us in the game.”
The Orange and Blue had a hard time with the Penn defensive front, finishing with only eight net rushing yards.
Despite the loss, several Bison had impressive games, including Coleman Bennett ’24, who had 160 all-purpose yards, and Eric Weatherly ’26, who had six receptions for 95 yards and two touchdowns.
Both of Weatherly’s touchdowns were off of Ruckers passes, the first being a 40-yard touchdown to bring the score to 17-7, and the second being a 31-yard touchdown. And with just a minute remaining in the game, Rucker passed to Josh Gary ’26 for a 13-yard touchdown—the first of Gary’s career.
These points however were not enough to bring the Bison to victory. Looking forward to next week the Orange and Blue travel to take on Lafayette on Saturday, Sept. 29.
