Are you ready for it? The movie event of the season is here. Ladies and gentlemen, let’s give it up for the Taylor Swift Eras Tour movie.

As a Swiftie, I love all things Taylor. When my roommate informed me of her movie coming out, I knew we had to go. We bought tickets for Friday, Oct. 13, opening night (which Taylor later changed to the 12th, but it’s a sore subject in our dorm, so we chose to ignore it). Adult tickets cost $19.89, a nod to Taylor’s fifth studio album, which is being re-recorded and released on Oct. 27. On the 13th, my roommate and I ventured to the Susquehanna Valley AMC to see The Eras Tour on the big screen.

The Eras Tour movie is around three hours long, covering Taylor’s entire tour. The movie was recorded at SoFi Stadium in California. The show takes us through Taylor’s eras, excluding her first album, Taylor Swift. Swift starts with Lover and ends with Midnights, with the rest of her albums in the middle. Swift performs fan favorites, such as “Love Story” from “Fearless” and “All Too Well (10 minute version)” from “Red.”  As all Swifties know, Taylor has two surprise songs that are done acoustically at each show. Taylor put in “Our Song” and “You’re On Your Own Kid” for the movie.

Swift has several costume changes throughout her show, which we get to see up close and personal in the film. Rachel Bennett ’27, says the “‘Lover’ Corset, with the bedazzle, was my favorite of her fits.” She changes outfits for every era, each outfit representative of her style during that time in her life. From short and sparkly for “Fearless” to long and dramatic for “Evermore,” Swift hits all the style categories. My favorite was her pink sparkly number from “1989,” but the “Lover” corset is always a classic.

The only flaw that my roommate and I found in the movie was the cutting out of certain songs from the concert. “The Archer,” “Cardigan” and “Long Live” were the hardest to lose. We couldn’t tell you why Taylor took them out of the movie, but they were greatly missed. Furthermore, Taylor completely cut out “Taylor Swift” as an album, the only song being performed was “Our Song” as a surprise song.

Overall, the film was a perfect way to see the concert without spending hundreds on tickets. You get to see Taylor’s outfits up close and get to be fully immersed in her performance. Whether you’re in your “Reputation” era or are here for “Folklore” fall, the Eras tour movie is a great way to spend a weekend.
