On Saturday, Oct. 21, Bison Football lost to Lehigh 27-18.
Throughout the game, the Orange and Blue totaled 252 yards offensively, 98 of which were gained in the last 15 minutes of play. Lehigh sacked the Bison quarterback four times, including three times on third down in the first half. Within the first half, the Bison only obtained three points.
The Orange and Blue alternated quarterbacks with Ralph Rucker ’25 being sidelined with injury. Nick Semptimphelter ’24 started that game but was relieved by Tyler Beverett ’24 for most of the middle portions before reentering in the fourth quarter to lead a touchdown drive.
Semptimphelter completed the game 9 of 15 for 91 yards and a touchdown pass to Derrick Anderson Jr. ’24, while Beverett finished 9 of 26 for 81 yards. Combined, both quarterbacks earned 38 rushing yards with Septimphelter’s 22 yards leading the Bison.
There were seven different Bison players who caught passes. Coleman Bennett ’24 led the way with four receptions for 51 yards.
With 4:05 left to play in the fourth quarter, Bucknell was trailing 27-3. On a kickoff return, Josh Gary ’26 ran 88 yards for a Bison touchdown.
Later in the fourth, the Orange and Blue made a huge stop taking possession back. With 37 seconds remaining in the game, the Bison scored again with a touchdown from Anderson. Following his touchdown, the Bison completed a two-point conversion as Eric Weatherly ’26 converted on an end around.
Defensively, Connor Carretta ’24 led Bucknell in tackles tallying 12, while Brad Jamison ’25 followed closely with 11 stops and two pass breakups.
For the next two games, the Bison will be on the road. Next Saturday, Oct. 28, they will travel to Hamilton, N.Y. to face off against Colgate.
