This past Saturday, Oct. 28, Bison Men’s Soccer had one of their best collective performances of the season, ending in a tie game of 0-0 against the Lafayette Leopards at their home stadium. The stellar Bison defense was able to hold the Leopards to only four shot attempts in the first half of the game and zero in the second half.
The Leopards, with a current record of 8-5-4, 4-2-2 PL, came into the game ranking third place in the entire Patriot League and fourth in league goals per game. However, the Bison refused to be intimidated even as goalie Rex Alphen ’27 had his first career start. He ultimately split the game with goalie Freddie Lapworth ’26, who was working back up to playing after an injury that took him out for the past five games.
After only a half hour of play, the Leopards took what would be their best score attempt of the game. Their player attempted an assist in the box to the Patriot League’s top scorer, but his shot was fired just above the crossbar.
The Bison, with a current record of 1-10-4, 0-6-2, had two near goals but also were left unable to score any goals. Both Charlie Holmes ’26 and Ryan Burritt ’27 had assists to defender Collin Murphy ’24 and forward Zane Domsohn ’26, but the Leopard goalie was able to block both attempts. He also made an important save in the last 10 minutes of the game to keep the score at a steady 0-0.
