Meghan Quinn ’24 has been named this week’s Athlete of the Week after competing at the Sykes & Sabock Invitational at Penn State University this past weekend. Quinn won the award for the fifth time.
Quinn walked into the weekend running the 400-meter dash, an event she’d never ran before. Not only did she win the event, but she set a new Bucknell record for the race with a time of 54.57.
Quinn also defeated the 2nd place runner by almost an astonishing three seconds, and she now has the fastest 400-meter dash time in the Patriot League.
This gave Quinn her eighth school record and 22nd victory since beginning her career on the track & field team at Bucknell.
“Breaking this record is a bit different since the 400 is not a normal event for me,” Quinn said. “However, I still feel a sense of joy and pride every time I cross that line and see it was a record-breaking time. It only motivates me further to work harder, be a better teammate and captain, and represent the Bison well.”
This award celebrates Quinn’s first Athlete of the Week victory in 2023-24, after winning it three times in 2022-23 and once in 2021-22.
Quinn and the rest of her squad head to Wagner University next weekend to compete in the Spire Center Collegiate.
