This year’s spring fashion picks

The birds are chirping, the sun is out and homework is (attempting) to get done on the quad. That’s right, Bucknellians, it’s finally spring! We can shed our puffer jackets and bring out our spring attire! Runways have been in full swing, showing us all the season’s best. Below, I have compiled a guide for the season’s best upcoming looks!

The color of the season: icy blue. From one runway to another, icy blue has been a recurring theme. From Vogue to Cosmopolitan, each magazine echoes the same sentiment: icy blue is the trend to follow. Top models like Romee Strijd have been nailing the icy blue look. This is your go-to color if you want to add a fresh hue to your wardrobe. Its versatility allows you to incorporate it into various styles and outfits.

One of the standout trends this season is the pencil skirt, but with a twist. Designers like Sabato de Sarbo have reimagined the classic pencil skirt, pairing it with a casual gray hoodie for a sleek and chic look. Other brands, including Gucci and J. Crew, have followed suit. The pencil skirt, once a staple of business casual, has now become a symbol of stylish casual. It’s a versatile piece that instantly elevates any outfit. After all, who doesn’t feel put together in a pencil skirt?

Next up: crochet. Crochet, crochet, crochet! Crochet is all the rage this season, from Valentino to Hollister. Crochet makes for a sophisticated yet laid-back look. It offers enough material to keep warm during chillier spring nights, but not too much you’re sweaty during the day. Crochet can also be an excellent pullover to add something to an outfit.

If you’re into Ralph Lauren and Sandro, you’re in luck! Popped collars and a “preppy” way of dress are taking over this fashion quarter. Many brands, including Gucci and Mango, have jumped on the popped-collar train. Every designer seems to have some version of it in their Spring 2024 lineup. Besides this feature, brands have been utilizing other preppy aspects as well. Miu Miu debuted a micro-mini pleated skirt with a popped-collar sweater during fashion week. As Paris Hilton once said, “skirts should be the size of a belt,” which Miu Miu’s spring collection took to heart. This combo offers the best combination of prep and fun.

Bucknellians, we have many looks we can try out this season! The warmer weather calls for new styles and some change. Enjoy the weather and enjoy the fashion that comes along with it!
