This past Sunday, Bison Women’s Soccer played an intense game against Monmouth, resulting in a difficult loss. This drops the Bison’s record to 2-2-1, while improving Monmouth’s to 3-0-2.
The Monmouth Hawks made Patriot League headlines as being the first team to hold the Bison scoreless in the 2024 season.
Up until the 25-minute mark, it had been an even match between the Bison and the Hawks. Neither team had come close to the goal until Monmouth finally scored, putting themselves in the lead.
The Bison continued to fight throughout the entire game, with eight of their ten shots coming in the second half, but the game came to a tough end for the Bison when Monmouth scored their third goal of the game in the 56th minute.
The final stats showed an even 10-10 shot attempts, with Monmouth being awarded the only two corner kicks of the game. Bucknell’s Jess Benattar ’26 and Dylan Zednik ’27 split time in the goal with Zednik recording the only save of the game.
The Orange and Blue are just getting started though. The Bison played off against St. Joseph’s on Sept. 5 in Philadelphia and head next to Villanova on Sept. 12.
