It was a winning start to Patriot League play as the Bison beat Colgate 3-0 during a Family Weekend home game this past Saturday, Sept. 21. Presley Sutter ’28 scored her first career goal, and Teresa Deda ’25 locked the game up with two more shots. Goalie Jess Benattar ’26 led the way for the Bison defense, allowing no goals for the third straight contest.
For much of the first half, the Bison and the Raiders played equally. It wasn’t until a long ball assist from Reese Evans ’25 that Sutter found a clear break in the attacking third, dribbled the ball past the Colgate defensive line and nailed a shot off the left goal post.
The Orange and Blue took their lead into the second half of the game. At 1:39 into the second half, Deda made a long-range left-footed shot right above the Raider goalie and just below the crossbar, putting the score at 2-0. Finally, in the 86th minute, Deda brought the Bison win home when Riley Hayes ’27 gave Deda an assist through the back line, giving Deda her second goal of the game and sixth of the season. The Bison finished the game off strong with an 11-8 shot advantage.
