On Saturday, Sept. 21, Bucknell Men’s Soccer hosted the Holy Cross Crusaders in a match that ended in a 0-0 draw.
Despite the scoreless affair, each team gave their fair share of challenges to the opposing goalkeeper. Bison goalkeeper Freddie Lapworth ’26 spearheaded Bucknell’s defensive front with six key saves, earning himself his third clean sheet of the season.
On the attacking end, David Krumov ’27, Jackson Sullivan ’26 and Jack Lucas ’27 all had shot attempts, although none were fortunate enough to end up on the scoresheet. The attacking exchange was relatively even, as the Bison attempted 10 shots to the Crusaders’ nine, with three ending up on target to the Crusaders’ six.
After the match, midfielder Kiko Hidalgo ’27 remarked that his team “came into the game hungry for a second Patriot League victory and fought very hard for the full 90 minutes.” He said that “despite heavy control,” the Bison had to split the points.
Both teams now have a record of 1-0-1 in Patriot League play, with the Bison moving to 3-3-1 overall this season. The team’s focus will now shift to next Saturday, Sept. 28, as the Bison travel to take on the American University Eagles, a team they have not beaten since 2021.
