The Women’s Golf team finished third overall at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational, shooting a combined team score of 596 and +20, just one stroke behind second place, Purdue University Fort Wayne. The Bison, as a team, shot 295 for the second round, a school par-record at +7 and the second-highest aggregate score, just three strokes behind the school record of 292 set last year at home.
The field competing at the Mill Creek Park Golf Club in Boardman, Ohio was 12 teams deep with local rivals such as Saint Francis and Duquesne as well as teams from the Midwest, including Indiana State and host school Youngstown State.
The Bison were led by Sophia Bardunias ’28, who shot even par both days with 72-72. Her performance placed her fourth overall in the 82-person field, and she was second overall among first years.
“I’m super proud of the way that the team played this weekend. All of us gave it our all and played amazing. I’m so excited to see what the rest of the fall and spring season has in store for us,” Bardunias said.
Nicole Yun ’27 was close behind Bardunias, finishing ninth overall, shooting 74-74 and +4 on the weekend. Lila Smith ’27, Tara Thomas ’25 and Katrina von Behren ’28 finished out the scoring for the Orange and Blue, each posting a score of +10 for the weekend, placing them in a tie for 23rd place.
The Bison will continue the fall season on Oct. 7-8 at Saint Francis’ Red Flash Invitational.
