Bison Volleyball continued their undefeated season this past weekend, gaining two more wins. The Orange and Blue played Lafayette Saturday, Sept. 28, sweeping the Leopards in three sets. The Bison carried this momentum into their four-set match against Lehigh on Sunday, Sept. 29. These two wins broke the program’s record for straight-won matches, and this is the second time the team has won four consecutive matches in league play under head coach, Tyler Hagstrom.
“Our connection as a program has been our number one factor in success. We have great relationships with each other and our coaches. Without trust in a sport, it is hard to depend on each other when it is time to perform,” libero Jordan Hardy ’25 said.
The Bison opened the first set against Lafayette with a 4-0 lead and held onto the lead the entire set. The teams traded points until the Orange and Blue set the tone with a 25-16 set final.
Lafayette tried to change the momentum in the second set by leading 6-3 at first. The Bison returned the energy by pushing to lead again 10-8. After two tie points at 11 and 13, the Bison took the lead again 20-15. The Orange and Blue concluded the set with a 25-22 win after two Leopard errors.
The final set concluded quickly, with the Bison dominating 25-18. Outside hitter Bri Frazilus ’26 led the offensive with 15 kills, while opposite hitter Tijana Kostic ’26 following with 11. The Bison finished the match offensively with a team .327 hitting percentage compared to Lafayette’s .143.
The weekend continued for the Orange and Blue as they played Lehigh on Sunday, Sept. 29. The Bison won their match in four sets. The Bison started the first set with an early 7-2 lead, but the Mountain Hawks caught up 15-14. The teams traded points until they tied at 22, where Lehigh took three straight points and won the set 25-22. The Bison quickly re-adjusted and came back the next set ready to win. They deadlocked with Lehigh 7-7, going back and forth the rest of the set. The two teams fought tightly until the Orange and Blue took the set with a kill from Frazilus and an error made by Lehigh, tying the match 1-1.
Bucknell and Lehigh stayed close in points for the entire third set, but Kostic stepped up with a set-finishing kill, ending it with a 25-22 win for the Bison. This tight tension between the Bison and the Mountain Hawks carried to the final set. Tied at 11-11, the Bison went on a 6-1 run to capture the lead. They ultimately shut out Lehigh with a 4-0 run to win the set 25-16 and ultimately the match.
Bison leaders for the match include Hardy earning 26 digs, Frazilus with 16 kills and one block and Cameron Lloyd ’27 dominating the net with 14 kills and four blocks.
“I am excited to see where this team can go.” Hardy shared. “This winning streak has not created pressure among the team, but quite the opposite. These games have allowed everyone to build confidence in themselves and each other.”
The Bison will continue league play against American on Oct. 4 and Navy on Oct. 5.
