Bucknell Women’s Cross Country took the trip down to Lehigh to participate in the 50th annual Paul Short Run. The 6K race pitted the Bison against over 150 other schools, each bringing their fastest competitors to the event. Bucknell held their own against this steep competition and placed 20th overall and third among Patriot League schools.
The endurance and perseverance exhibited by the Bison pulled them over the line in this race. Caryn Rippey ’26 continued her strong season with a time of 21:10.5, earning her first place for the Bison and 71st overall.
Sarah Policano ’25 kicked into gear late in the race to finish second for the Bison behind Rippey with a time of 21:38.5, with Shaelan McNally ’28 following right behind with a time of 21:44.9 to place third among the Orange and Blue.
Kailey Granger ’27 and Meghan Rentner ’27 finished with nearly identical times of 21:59.4 and 21:59.7, respectively, to round out the scoring effort for Bucknell.
To go along with Rippey’s 71st overall finish, Policano finished 126th, with McNally in 142nd, Granger in 152nd and Rentner in 154th.
Bucknell’s scoring output from the top-five racers are a sign of faster times on the horizon. The women’s team has earned a break and will return to compete in the ECAC championships on Friday, Oct. 18.
