Women’s Golf competed in the Red Flash Invitational on Oct. 7 and 8 hosted by Saint Francis University. After third place finishes in their first three events, the team continued their success with a second place finish this week.
After round one, the Bison found themselves in a tie for second place and two shots off the leaders with a combined team score of 317.
Lila Smith ’27 was the low Bison after the first day carding a +4 score of 76. In wet playing conditions after rain the night before, it was hard to find birdies on the opening day of the event, but Smith tallied 14 pars to go along with four bogeys for a fairly clean sheet. She sat in a tie for second individually after round one.
Katrina von Behren ’28 finished her first day with a +6 score of 78 and Katherine Vice ’27 followed behind with a +11 81. Both made two birdies on the day, with von Behren sitting in a tie for 11th individually and Vice holding a tie for 17th after the conclusion of the first day.
The Orange and Blue also counted a +12 score of 82 from Tara Thomas ’25.
Three +5 scores of 77 led the way for the Bison in round two, from von Behren, Thomas and Sophia Bardunias ’28. Smith followed behind with a +7 tally of 79 through her second round. Von Behren led with four birdies on the day including on her first two holes.
Bucknell improved from its team score of 317 on day one to 310 on day two, cementing a second place finish.
Smith and von Behren finished tied for seventh individually, Thomas finished 12th, Bardunias placed 13th and Vice finished in 26th.
Next up, Women’s Golf will compete in the Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club on Oct. 19 and 20.
