As the season continues, Men’s Soccer looks to hold their reign in the Patriot League. This past week, the Bison faced Patriot League competitor Lehigh at home and then hit the road for a midweek matchup against Binghamton.
The first game was the night of Saturday, Oct. 5, under the lights against Lehigh in a dramatic showing. Each team fought to the very end but couldn’t break the tie. At the start, both teams had close opportunities to take the initial lead. In the sixth minute, Winston Oziri ’27 nearly found the back of the net but came up unsuccessful.
Lehigh grabbed the first lead on a penalty kick awarded after a foul in the box. Despite keeper Freddie Lapworth’s ’26 best efforts, the ball found its way in. Moments later, the Bison tied the game up. Waldemar Kattrup ’25 sent a long ball over the Lehigh defense, who then let the ball find its way out of bounds. Jack Lucas ’27 chased after the send-in and turned it into a corner kick for the Bison. Gianluca Marroni ’28 took the kick, and it was met with a header from Ben Sheffield ’26, and the ball found the back of the net.
As the team opened up the second half, the Bison saw many close opportunities to take the lead. But the Hawks got to it first, around the 53rd minute. Following a Bison slide tackle, the ball deflected out of bounds. Lehigh took advantage with a quick throw-in, where they managed to connect into the six and give the Mountain Hawks another goal.
The Bison’s second goal came around the 70-minute mark off another corner kick. David Krumov ’27 sent the ball in and once again Sheffield managed to get his head on it. Sheffield headed the ball down for Drew Roskos ’28 to finish.
Sheffield and Cade McGrath ’26 did their best to get the go-ahead goal but were unsuccessful against Lehigh’s keeper. The Bison finished with 14 shots in comparison to Lehigh’s eight. Despite the tie, the Bison remained atop the Patriot League conference.
The Bison sought redemption the night of Tuesday, Oct. 8, as they faced Binghamton. In the first half, both teams remained scoreless. It wasn’t until the 56th minute that Binghamton took the lead off of a spot kick in the box. Despite letting up an early goal in the second half, Lapworth stood strong in goal the entire game. The keeper finished with a season-high of eight total saves to help keep the Bison in the contest.
The Orange and Blue managed to tie up the match in the 83rd minute with a goal from Zane Domsohn ’26. The play started on the Bison’s end with Lapworth, who cleared the ball out of the defensive box. Cade Whitmire ’27 collected the long ball but was fouled upon receiving it. Acting quickly, the midfielder played Roskos down the right-hand side of the field. Roskos sent the ball to Domsohn who controlled the ball and moved around the Binghamton defense and goalie to score. This marks Domsohn’s first goal of the season and his seventh career goal.
Offensively, the Bison tallied 15 shots, outshooting Binghamton’s 13 as Bucknell ended the week with two draws.
Patriot League play will continue for the Orange and Blue this weekend as they face Boston University away on Saturday, Oct. 12.
