Bison Men’s Tennis completed another weekend of play at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships hosted at the University of Pennsylvania.
All four juniors competed in singles and doubles matches. “We had an excellent weekend competing against the best teams in the region,” head coach Jason Cohen said. “We had wins over Penn State, UPenn, St John’s, Monmouth, Villanova, Drexel among others, all of which are very strong programs.”

Brendan McDonald ’26 also won his first match 6-7, 7-5, 6-4, against Hofstra before narrowly losing to St. John’s. Amar Tahirovic ’26 earned a bye and started play on Friday.
The Bison took the momentum into Friday, winning two singles and two doubles matches.

The weekend continued for the Bison on Saturday, where Bain and Stavrakas advanced to the top sixteen in doubles. They took an 8-5 win over opponents from Penn, moving on into Sunday’s play. Tahirovic also advanced to the top sixteen in singles by taking a 6-4, 6-2 win over Saint Joseph’s. However, the junior lost his next match against Penn State 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.
Stavrakas qualified through the top 32, but also lost his fourth match 7-6, 6-3 to NJIT. McDonald and Tahirovic also suffered a tough 8-6 loss against Princeton.
The Orange and Blue concluded play on Sunday with Bain and Stavrakas taking an 8-6 loss against opponents from Delaware.
“I think my personal highlight was the way our team competed. No matter who the team we faced we entered the match with a belief we could win which helped us greatly.” Coach Cohen shared. “Some of the same guys who just competed at ITAs will compete again this weekend so this week is really about recovery and being 100% and just staying sharp and keeping the momentum going.”
The Bison will continue their season on Friday, Oct. 25 at West Point for Patriot League Qualifiers.
