On Sunday, Oct. 20, Bison Men’s Soccer prevailed 1-0 over Army West Point in an intense matchup. A goal from Waldemar Kattrup ’25 led the Orange and Blue to a resilient victory.
The Orange and Blue came close to scoring in the seventeenth minute off of a shot from Drew Roskos ’28 redirecting a low cross from Cade Whitmire ’27. In the second half, Jimmy Pombor ’26, Cohen Weaver ’26 and Cade McGrath ’26 all came close to scoring.
The game remained scoreless up until the 85th minute. After a series of precise passes, a 25-yard shot from Kattrup assisted by Aidan Lawlor ’25 gave the Bison the lead.
Despite a couple of close calls after taking the lead, the Bison held the Knights scoreless. Bison keeper Freddie Lapworth ’26 recorded one impressive diving save. Ben Sheffield ’26 made a well-timed slide tackle in the final minute, and the Bison defended a long throw into the box to close out the match.
After the win, Bucknell is now tied with Boston University for first place in the Patriot League, both with conference records of 3-2-1 and 11 points.
The Bison return home to host their Senior Day game against Colgate on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m.
