Last weekend, Bison Women’s Swim & Dive hosted the Bison Fall Invite. They competed against Seton Hall and Binghamton. Despite being a non-scored meet, the team finished the day winning ten events.
The day started with the 200-free relay where Sofia Burns ’28, Sara Ketron ’27, Ashley Piacentino ’27 and Virginia Hastings ’27 beat out Seton Hall.
Clara Renner ’28 had another impressive showing with two top ten times. One of those came in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.39, the fifth fastest time in school history. Three Bison followed behind; Sydney Dettmann ‘27 in second, Ketron in third and Burns in fourth.
In the 2000-individual medley, Renner posted a 2:02.85, putting her at eighth in the Bucknell record book. Hastings, Rylie Giles ’25 and Ketron also placed in the top five of the 200 IM. Additionally, Renner finished fifth in the 100-breaststroke.
Kyla Kelly ’26 had a big showing as well, winning two events. Kelly saw her wins in the 100 free, 400 IM and also placed third in the 50 free.
Liz Dokina ’25 and Samantha Benzija ’27 placed first and second in the 200 breaststroke. Two more wins were collected for the Bison: Jennifer Bolden ’26 in the 500 free and Hanna Bingley ’26 in the 100 breaststroke.
On the diving side, the Bison had divers place in both the one-meter (Meghan Catherwood ’25 in first, Natalie Penman ’27 in second) and 3-meter board (Reggie Frias ’25).
This Saturday, Women’s Swim & Dive will look to continue their strong start of the season against Navy, American and Lafayette at Kinney Natatorium.
